About Our Events

  • PTA Meetings

    MONTHLY | THURSDAY | 6:00PM

    Typically held on the third Thursday of each school month, our PTA meetings allow you to connect with fellow parents/caregivers to discuss school initiatives, and enhance our children's education. Free childcare is provided and complimentary dinner is served. To submit a new agenda item, visit our Contact page.

  • Family Fridays

    MONTHLY | FRIDAY | 2:30-3:35PM

    Family Fridays, held most months, invite parents and caregivers to join school activities, fostering community. Topics include Meet the Teacher, Read Across America, and our annual jog-a-thon, Run for the Green.

  • Big Reveal

    ANNUAL | AUGUST

    Join us for The Big Reveal, the perfect prelude to the school year, where parents and caregivers can discover their child's teacher and enjoy connecting with fellow families while the kids enjoy a playdate on campus.

  • Hive 5K Fun Run

    ANNUAL | SEPTEMBER

    Join us for the Hive 5K Fun Run, a community event full of fitness, fun, and family spirit!

  • Morning Buzz

    MONTHLY | FRIDAYS | 8:45-9:45AM

    Join us once a month during morning drop-off time for Morning Buzz, where you can enjoy free coffee and treats donated by local coffee shops. It's the perfect opportunity to connect and build community with fellow Birney parents and caregivers.

  • University Heights Fall Festival

    ANNUAL | OCTOBER

    Join us at the University Heights Fall Festival. This free event is open to the public and features live music, food trucks, craft beer, a pumpkin patch, and fun activities like face painting, lawn games, and hayrides. Co-hosted by the UH Garden Club, 100% of proceeds support our IB program and Specials classes. Visit the UH Fall Festival website.

  • Book Fair

    BI-ANNUAL | NOVEMBER & MARCH

    Discover a world of imagination and learning at our biannual book fair, where kids can explore a fantastic selection of books for all ages. Up to 50% of sales go to support our school library. We offer a fund so that each student can leave the fair with a book in hand, regardless of their financial circumstances.

  • Big Give

    ANNUAL | DECEMBER

    Our Big Give donation day is a dynamic 12- hour donation drive where 100% of contributions go directly to enriching our school's IB programs and Specials classes.

  • Hive Hunt Scavenger Hunt

    ANNUAL | FEBRUARY

    The Birney community nd friends don bee-themed costumes and team up for a friendly scavenger hunt competition. They race through University Heights tackling challenges, fostering teamwork and community spirit.

  • "Run for the Green" Jog-a-Thon

    ANNUAL | MARCH

    Run for the Green is our annual jog-a-thon that combines fitness and fundraising to support our school programs. Combined with the March Family Friday, parents/caregivers and loved ones are invited to watch their student(s) run for the green.

  • Outdoor Movie Night

    ANNUAL | MAY

    Join us for an Outdoor Movie Night under the stars, where families can relax and enjoy a blockbuster film together. Bring your blankets, purchase snacks onsite and get ready for an evening of community fun and entertainment.

  • Grown Ups' Night Out

    BI-ANNUAL | SEPT & MARCH

    Grown Ups’ Night Out, held biannually in the fall and spring, offers highly discounted childcare at school so parents/caregivers can enjoy a a social night out in the neighborhood. Connect and have fun with fellow parents/caregivers while supporting our school, as the host business donates a portion food & beverage sales to Birney.

  • Dine for Birney

    MONTHLY-ISH

    Dine for Birney nights, held monthly-ish, are where dining at a local restaurant and mentioning Birney results in a portion of your check being donated to our school. It's a delicious way to support fundraising while enjoying a night off from cooking.

  • Open Mic Night

    ANNUAL | APRIL

    Bring your talented kids to our Open Mic Night, where they can showcase their skills in music, poetry, comedy, and more. It's a fantastic opportunity for young performers to shine and for families to enjoy an evening of entertainment and community spirit.

  • Bedtime Stories

    ANNUAL | APRIL

    Bedtime Stories is where students, parents/caregivers, and our local library come together for an enchanting evening of storytelling. Have your littles wear their coziest pajamas, bring a treasured stuffed animal, and enjoy a night filled with magical tales and friends.

  • Passport to Adventure

    ANNUAL | MAY

    Passport to Adventure celebrates Birney's International Baccalaureate (IB) mission to "Think Globally, Learn Locally" by exploring the cultures and traditions of countries around the world. The festival features booths dedicated to this year’s featured countries, international entertainment, student performances, and special activities that highlight global diversity and community engagement.

  • Parking at Pride

    ANNUAL | JULY

    We operate the parking lot adjacent to Birney, offering parking spots to people attending the Pride festivities, for a nominal fee. This initiative not only provides essential support for hundreds of Pride attendees, but also is an important fundraiser each year.
